Children's Summer Reading Program begins July 9

The 2014 Mary MacIntyre Summer Reading Program will meet on Wednesday, 16 and 23, from 10 a.m. until noon. "Fizz, Boom, Read!" is the science theme that will tie together many delightful stories, projects and activities. Leaders are planning many fun activities for their groups working with Youth Programs Coordinator Peggy Orman. Children will be organized in preschool, first and second, and third and fourth grade groups. Register by calling 891-4190 or by signing up at the library. "Children have a great time coming to the program," explains Orman, "and this is a fun way to keep children reading over the summer."

Reading Program

It's almost time for the Battle of the Books, a Jeopardy-style competition on June 28 at the Champlain Centre Mall in Plattsburgh. The SLFL will be fielding two Take a Bite Out of Books teams. "The young people are almost finished reading the six books and are ready to take on teams from other libraries," said Peggy Orman. "They are quick on the buzzers and with the answers!"
