Current Events Cafe - Mondays at 10:30 am in the Dickert Room


Fiction Book Group –The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon is told from the perspective of Christopher Boone a 15 year old boy with a curious logical mind and little regard for social constructs. The reader follows the unraveling and piecing back together of his shattered reality in the loose form of a mystery. Racism Study Group –  (Part 2) - The study group will be continuing Stamped From The Beginning –The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America by Ibram X Kendi, reading and discussing the second half of the book. This book follows the purposeful development of racist ideas during the early inception of our country and the impact of the acceptance of these ideas and the people involved in perpetuating and fighting them. Join us for discussion on Mon. Oct. 15 at 2pm in the Dickert Room at the Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main Street

Science Book Group –The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs: A New History of a Lost World by Steve Brusette is an update on the world of palentology, the author tracks the existence of dinosaurs from their emergence in the early Triassic period to their ultimate demise in the Cretaceous (except the ones who escaped that death and evolved into birds!) A great read for dinosaur heads or anyone who wants to learn about them! Pick up a copy and join the dino-discussion Tuesday Oct. 23 at 2pm in the Dickert Room at Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main Street.




Cantwell Room

Maximum occupancy: 120  

The Cantwell Room is a conference room on the lower level of the Library building. It is great for large group activities and meetings. More information on space use and rental HERE.

Dickert Room

The Dickert Room is a smaller conference room with one long table surrounded by the Dickert Wildlife Collection. Ideal for smaller groups and meetings of 12 or less, it is a comfortable quiet space on the lower level of the Library Building. More information on the Dickert Wildlife Collection HERE.

Adirondack Experience

Library patron pass available for 50% discount on family admissions, up to 4 adults or 2 adults & all children 17 and under. Children under 5 are free.
