Current Events Cafe - Mondays at 10:30 am

Book Groups will be BACK in September! 

Fiction Book Group – Summer is on its way out but we can make it last a little longer with Ray Bradbury's classic coming of age story, Dandelion Wine. The story follows 12 year old Douglas Spaulding through one formative summer of learning what it means to be alive. Join us for a group discussion Tues. Sep. 11 at 2pm in the Dickert Room at Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main Street

Racism Study Group – Stamped From The Beginning –The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America by Ibram X Kendi, is a needle exposing the deeply wedged roots of racism in America. This book follows the purposeful development of racist ideas during the early inception of our country and the impact of the acceptance of these ideas and the people involved in perpetuating and fighting them. Join us for discussion on Mon. Sept. 17 in the Dickert Room of the Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main Street.

Science Book Group – The Water Will Come: Rising Seas, Sinking Cities and the Remaking of the Civilized World by Jeff Goodell is a long hard look at the impending effects of climate change, comprised of observations from the authors travels and scientific fact, this book explores what we are up against and the possible routes we can take to deal with it. Pick up a copy and join us for conversation Tues. Sept. 18 in the Dickert Room at Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main Street

Cantwell Room

Maximum occupancy: 120  

The Cantwell Room is a conference room on the lower level of the Library building. It is great for large group activities and meetings. More information on space use and rental HERE.

Dickert Room

The Dickert Room is a smaller conference room with one long table surrounded by the Dickert Wildlife Collection. Ideal for smaller groups and meetings of 12 or less, it is a comfortable quiet space on the lower level of the Library Building. More information on the Dickert Wildlife Collection HERE.

Adirondack Experience

Library patron pass available for 50% discount on family admissions, up to 4 adults or 2 adults & all children 17 and under. Children under 5 are free.

We have free passes available for checkout with your library card! Good for two adults and two children, first come first serve, one pass per family.
